Smash Burger on the Beach is the restaurant at South Beach Inn, on the sand at Thong Krut on the south coast of Koh Samui. Stellar Property Global converted the hotel and fitted out its restaurant as part of the same project. It serves American smash-style burgers, where the patty is pressed flat on a hot griddle for crisp edges. The signature is the Gringo Burger. The deck looks out past the pier towards Koh Tan and Koh Madsum, and many diners come in straight off the boat trips that leave from Thong Krut. We announced it with South Beach Inn in March 2025, and breakfast followed that June, so hotel guests can eat on the beach from morning to evening. It shows the fit-out work we do for food and drink.

A restaurant on the sand

Thong Krut is a fishing village on the south coast of Koh Samui, with a small pier where the island boat trips start. The restaurant deck sits by the pier and looks out to Koh Tan and Koh Madsum, the island visitors call Pig Island.

That location shapes the day. Hotel guests often eat their first meal here on arrival, and day-trippers stop in when the boats come back.

What is on the menu

A smash burger is a ball of beef pressed flat on a very hot griddle. The edges go crisp and the middle stays juicy. The Gringo Burger is the one guests name most often.

The menu also has chicken and vegetarian burgers, a Philly cheesesteak, several kinds of fries, and milkshakes. Breakfast was added in June 2025, including pancakes with mango. Guests arrive to a cold towel, the same welcome they get at the hotel.

Why we added a restaurant

We fitted it out as part of the hotel's conversion. We wanted guests to be able to eat on the beach without leaving the hotel.
